Andrew Gorecki, DPT

Andrew Gorecki, DPT

Owner/ Physical Therapist

Andrew received his bachelors in exercise science from Northern Michigan University and continued his education at Central Michigan University where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).

Andrew recently came to the area from Grand Haven, MI, where he worked mainly in a outpatient orthopedic setting working with patients and athletes ranging from foot and ankle injuries, knee and hip dysfunctions, shoulder pain, and spine dysfunctions.

Andrew specializes in functional applied science which originates from internationally acclaimed physical therapist Gary Gray where he analyzes biomechanical dysfunctions in order to realize the true cause of your pain. This style of physical therapy is unique and extremely effective in returning the high level athlete or weekend warrior back to function.

Ben Fuson, DPT

Physical Therapist

Ben graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2010. Ben is a fellow of Applied Functional Science, completing his 40-week fellowship in 2014, and is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.

Ben was raised in Portage, MI and currently resides in Traverse City with his wife Megan and their dog Obie. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, mountain biking, hiking, and home improvement projects.

Sarah Patterson, DPT

Physical Therapist

Sarah graduated from Grand Valley State University with her Bachelor's degree in Clinical Exercise Science in 2013 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016. After graduation she joined the Superior team and completed her Fellowship of Applied Functional Science and Function Manual Reaction certification in 2017. Sarah and her husband, Brad, welcomed their daughter Carolyn in October 2019. Sarah enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, doing puzzles and reading. She also has 3 dogs that keep her busy. In her free time, she volunteers for the American Physical Therapy Association Michigan, as well as our local Relay For Life event which benefits the American Cancer Society.

Alex Pikunas, DPT

Physical Therapist

Alex graduated from Oakland University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. He then attended University of Michigan-Flint where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016. Native of Armada Michigan, Alex moved up to Traverse City after graduation with his wife, Karlyn, who is also a physical therapist. He loves playing hockey and played goalie for Oakland University’s Division I ACHA hockey team. His other hobbies include golfing, kayaking, and weightlifting.

Dr. Drew O’Donnel graduated from The University of Toledo in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He then continued at The University of Toledo where he received his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. He moved to Traverse City with his wife, Maren, who grew up here. Drew is a long-time patient of physical therapy and is thankful for the opportunity to become a movement specialist and give back in such an active community. He is enthusiastic about any outdoor activity, especially rock climbing, hiking, frisbee, and slacklining. He also rides his bike around town so feel free to say “hi” when you see him!

Dr. Megan Chupka-Fuson  graduated from Western Michigan University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2013.  Megan continues to attend conferences and participate in continuing education courses to better assist her patients by challenging her knowledge and skills as a PT.  Megan grew up in Battle Creek, and currently lives in Traverse City with her family.  Megan enjoys being outdoors, hiking, skiing, and spending time at the beach.

Taylor graduated from Central Michigan University with her bachelors in biology in 2013 prior to earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Michigan-Flint in 2016. Being born and raised in Traverse City, Taylor decided to return to the area in 2018 after working two years at another outpatient orthopedic clinic downstate. Taylor is always eager to attend continuing education courses and learn new treatment techniques to further help her patients. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and is passionate about physical therapy and its ability to heal the body naturally through movement and exercise. In her free time, Taylor stays busy throughout the Michigan seasons and enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, snowboarding, and playing golf.

Taylor Steinhelper, DPT

Physical Therapist

Taylor joined the Superior staff in March, 2021. Taylor graduated from Lake Superior State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and an Associate’s degree in Health & Fitness. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Oakland University in 2020. In March, Taylor moved from her hometown of Waterford, MI to Traverse City to join the Superior team!

Taylor grew up playing lots of sports. Throughout high school she played basketball, softball, volleyball, and golf and continued her athletic career at LSSU where she was the center fielder for their division II softball team. Various sports-related injuries over the years introduced her to the field of physical therapy, which led Taylor to choose a career path that allows her to help others find healing, prevent injuries and function at their optimal level.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, playing sports, and spending time with her family and friends.

Rachel Ciarkowski, DPT

Physical Therapist

Rachel graduated from the University of Michigan with her bachelors in Movement Science in 2018, then continued her education at Washington University in St. Louis where she received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2021. Being born in Traverse City and raised in Ann Arbor, Rachel is excited to return to Michigan after living in Missouri the past few years for school.

Rachel grew up playing many sports and found a niche for soccer and played center forward for the University of Michigan Women’s Club Soccer team. Her other hobbies include hiking, pickle ball, paddle boarding and watching all University of Michigan sports. Being new to the area, she is excited to meet new people and enjoy the outdoor wonders of northern Michigan.

Jared Alcorn, DPT

Physical Therapist

Jared Alcorn, DPT, hails from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. His undergraduate degree was obtained from Cleveland State University, where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. In 2021 he graduated from Andrews University with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

His favorite sport is soccer, which he played in college. He also enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and golf. Jared is happy to be starting his physical therapy career in beautiful northern Michigan where he can indulge his love of the outdoors by snowboarding, waterskiing/wakeboarding, camping, and hiking.

Jared’s favorite part of being a physical therapist is getting to know his patients, and helping them get back to the activities that they love to do!

Lizzie Rolston, DPT

Physical Therapist

Lizzie graduated from University of Michigan in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Movement Science from the School of Kinesiology. She then moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern University, obtaining her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2018. She spent the next 3 years working in downtown Chicago, where she developed a specialization in performing arts physical therapy through continuing education and onsite experience. In this capacity, she worked with several major professional dance companies and local theaters. In fall 2021, she and her husband moved to Traverse City to grow their roots and enjoy the beauty of northern Michigan. 

Lizzie started dancing as soon as she could walk and danced all the way through college as well as pre-professionally in New York City. She is passionate about human movement and strongly believes that everyone is a dancer. Outside of work, she spends her time with her husband, their golden retriever, and their small, but very loud cat. She enjoys dancing, yoga, Pilates, hiking, and paddle boarding.

Dr. Lauren Cook graduated from Albion College in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Athletic Training and from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2020. One of her favorite parts about being a physical therapist is getting to know her clients and helping them get back to the activities they love. Lauren loves to be outside hiking with her dogs or swimming. One of her bucket list goals is to visit all the lighthouses in Michigan.

Hannah hails from Texas where she received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University in 2018, and her doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston in 2022. Hannah, her fiancé, Colten, and their two hounds, Sheriff and Skylar, decided to make Traverse City their new home to be closer to family, and be a part of an incredible community. Hannah enjoys surfing, hiking, weightlifting, bow hunting, and fishing when she isn’t participating in her favorite hobby of helping people reach their greatest potential through physical therapy.

Dan graduated from Baker College in 2016 with an Associates in Applied Science for Physical Therapist Assistant. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors in Sports and Health Science from American Military University as well as becoming a Tactical Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dan has had the opportunity to work with firefighters in Columbus Ohio to learn what it takes to keep them strong and injury free. Dan is from Muskegon but moved to Traverse City in the summer of 2016. Dan enjoys doing anything outdoors like biking and kayaking and also likes lifting weights and playing guitar.
