Get lasting relief from muscle strain and tightness with Deep Muscle Stimulation (DMS) therapy.

This FDA-approved treatment is used to resolve unrelenting muscle trigger points quickly and without the need for prescription drugs.

Superior Physical Therapy offers this innovative treatment to patients suffering from acute and chronic muscle pain. DMS uses kinetic forms of percussion and concussion vibration to stimulate the muscles. This alleviates tension, enhances circulation, and restores function in the affected area.

What is Deep Muscle Stimulation Therapy?

DMS therapy is a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution to muscle pain and trigger points related to various acute and chronic disorders.

The treatment is performed using a massage device that utilizes specific vibration impulses to reach deep into and stimulate the muscle tissue. These mechanical vibrations help facilitate tissue regeneration and alleviate discomfort.

At Superior Physical Therapy, we perform DMS treatments to eliminate pain and prepare the muscles for further physical therapy.

How Does It Work?

DMS therapy relies on local or general muscle spasms to stimulate weak, flaccid muscles and loosen contracted, shortened muscles. It improves muscle metabolism as well as muscle elasticity, boosting the range of motion of stiff joints.

The Deep Muscle Stimulator is a unique hand-held vibration and percussion device designed to help increase lymph flow and blood circulation. It works just like a massage except that it can treat more sore areas of the body faster than human hands.

The DMS device provides a mild stretching action to muscles and connective tissues, which helps keep these tissues elastic.

Additionally, the rhythmical pressure and movement created by the DMS device stimulate nerve receptors, causing blood vessels to dilate and increase blood flow. This helps facilitate recovery from soft tissue injuries, including sprains and strains.

The DMS device ensures consistent pressure therapy is received. No oils, gels, creams, needles, and numbing agents are used. The process is virtually pain-free, and there is no discomfort or downtime involved.
